Those opposed adhere to the traditional interpretation. Which view is correct? Is it the “God is love” and therefore that which is “of love” is acceptable? Or is the traditional view right? The new “love” standard is actually in error. The various positions of different groups within the Anglican Church on same sex marriage are an example of what some churches end up with on this question.
The basic arguments of the two sides: Traditional ViewActs 15 eliminated Jewish dietary restrictions and circumcision for Gentiles, but upheld Jewish sexual morals by advising Gentiles to avoid “unchastity.” This was confirmed by Paul who warned against same sex behaviour (Romans 1:26-27).
