NOTE: If you are planning to rent a villa, about 3/4 of them are already booked!  BOOK NOW!

There are a wide range of options for housing on St. John (click on each for more information or scroll down):
Resorts
Villas (separate web page)
Inns and B & Bs
Eco and National Park Campgrounds (includes cottages)

We think that the villa rentals are the best accommodation value, though they're not the cheapest option.  Below we list the other three options with related links and villas we cover on a separate web page

When you look at prices for any accommodations, note that you will be traveling during low season, so the low season rates apply.  High season is January to April, which is why we waited until May; you'll notice the prices drop considerably.  In addition, the weather is said to be gorgeous at that time of year and the water flat (little wind) making for great snorkeling!

Where We're Staying
Douglas and I will be staying at 2B villa, which is in the Peter Bay (see villa maps).  Peter Bay is located between Trunk and Cinnamon Bays and is between a 5-10 minute drive from Cruz Bay.

Camp grounds and Eco-Resorts
You can camp right on Cinnamon Bay Beach or Maho Beach, two of the loveliest beaches.  They have platform tents on up to condo-like apartments.

Maho Bay Camps and its sister villages are of particular interest:
-- They were founded 30 years ago as eco-resorts, e.g., use solar power
-- They provide lectures and classes throughout the day including yoga, meditation, and local ecology
-- They are reasonably priced!

A tent-cottage at Maho costs about $75 per night, but you don't have your own bathroom.  For $110, go up the hill on the same gorgeous beach, and you'll find Harmony Studios with many more creature comforts.

Resorts
There are luxury resorts on St. John: The Westin and Caneel Bay.  Caneel is in the ultra luxury category. The accommodations start at about $200 a night and go up to over $1,000 per night.  Both have separate cottages/villas available on the resort grounds.
