Relationship: 4th Great Grand Father to Cheri Mae Horne Wilson.
John was granted 10 acres from the King in March 1771, in the fork of the
Wateree and Congaree Rivers in old Craven Co., now Richland Co., S.C.
John moved to Effingham Co., Ga. in late 1780's. On 13 Jun 1798, was granted
200 acres in Effingham Co. His brother James, stayed with him for about two
years, then returned to Richland Co. S.C.
John had two more land grants in Effingham Co., for a total of 300 acres, the
last grant being 31 Jan 1798.
By 2 Jan, 1801, John moved to western Glynn Co., now Wayne Co., when he sold
his Effingham land. He lived the rest of his life in this area. John's date of
death and his wife's name are not known. They were living in 1814, when Capt.
William Cone made affidavit to obtain the right to vote for William Rollinson
(John's son). Recorded in Wayne Co., it states that William Cone had known the
mother of William, Noel and Fanny Rollinson, and that he knew John, their
father.
John was a Revolutionary War soldier. Served in the South Carolina Militia,
Richland Dist. as did Benjamin, Richard, William and George, brothers of John.
Also, Gilbert and David Rawlinson served in the Continental Line, from South
Carolina.
