1765: John Boyce Sr. was a Rev. Soldier, having entered the country from Ireland
John Boyce of Newberry, S.C., served under Col. James Williams at the Battle of
Kings Mountain. He had served earlier under his brother, Alexander, and had
been wounded in attempting to take Savannah. His property had been destroyed.
He had been captured and escaped hanging by the Torries. He also served in the
battles at Blackstock's Plantation, Cowpens, and Eutaw Springs. He lost three
fingers in a combat with "Bloody Bill" Cunningham. John Boyce' son, Honorable
Kerr Boyce, married Amanda Johnson.

early as 1822, and settled on Beech Creek. Eight children were born there. In
the spring of 1834, James and his family emigrated to Blue Point, Edinburg
Illinois. That Oct, James, dau Mary, sons John and Jessee all died of "milk
sickness'.

Andrew Thompson served in the War of 1812, and was a member in the United
States House of Representitives.
On the 1850 census, house 453, Andrew Thompson and his famly are living near
the family of James Thompson, and William Waters. In the house is Mary Stradley
age 19, Jane Mac Carson age 26, W.J. Mac Carson age 5, John Q. Mac Carson age
3, and Vinna Mac Carson, age 7/12.

Jan 1993: Harry Thompson of Orrs Camp Rd., member of BPO Elks Lodge 1616, VFW
Post 5206, American Legion Post 77, Kedron Masonic Lodge 387, and volunteer
with the Henderson Co. Hospice. Member of the Roy A. Johnson Sunday School
class of the United Methodist Church of Hendersonville. He was a Navy Vet of
the Korean War. He retired from the Thompson Produce and Poultry in 1982.
Survivors include: wife Sallie Mauldin Thompson; three sons, Todd Thompson,
Michael M. Thompson, and Jeff Thompson of Hendersonville; one sister, Ann
Goodman of Hendersonville; and one grandchild.
Funeral was held 11 AM, Wednesday, in the Chapel-in-the-Pines, of Jackson
Funeral Service. Burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
