On the 1850 census, the family name was spelled 'Rollison'. In the house was
also John's mother, Ellen Rollison, age 67; David Futch age 20, student, John
Vickers age 23, farmer born Ga.; Bettsey Vickers, age 23 born Ga.; Catherine
Vickers age 4, born Fl.
On the 1870 census, the family name was still spelled Rollison. They were
living next to the family of James F. Robertson.
Raulerson Cemetary located 10 miles east of Blackshear, Wayne Co., Georgia.
It was originally on the farm of Noel Raulerson's brother, Jacob, on the banks
of the Little Satilla River, now in Pierce Co.
John enlisted 31 Mar 1838 in Columbia Co. for the Seminole Indian War, as
Private in Capt. Robert Sanderling's company, 1st Brigade, Florida Militia
commanded by Col. Robert Brown. Discharged at Fort Brown, 31 Jul 1838. Enlisted
25 Jul 1849 at Camp Gibson, in Capt. S. S. Sparkman's Company Florida Mounted
Volunteer's. Discharged at Camp Gibson, 23 Oct 1849. Also served in Capt.
Durrance's Company Florida Mounted Volunteers in 1856.
On 25 Jan 1871, Polk Co., Fl. John applied for bounty land on his Indian War
service of 25 Jul 1849. 7 Apr 1879, while living 16 miles from Bartow in Polk
Co., applied for a second bounty land grant for Indian War service. Granted an
additional 80 acres.
Indian Wars Pensions: John B., SC-2404 FL 28 Sep 1892, Florida War Service,
Florida Volunteers. In his application, John gave his age at time of enlistment
as 16, having blue eyes, brown hair, light complexion and a farmer by
occupation. He stated that he was born in Wayne County Georgia, and that since
leaving the service, he resided in Columbia County Florida for nine years,
Hillsborough County for 26 years and Polk County for 21 years. Pennsion was
issued 19 May 1893, commencing 27 Jul 1892 in the amount of $8.00 per month.
Last payment was made 4 Feb 1901, and stopped due to death 25 Apr 1901.
John and two brothers moved from Columbiana Co. to Polk Co. about 1844.
In the Huxford books, this Raulerson is named John Baggs Raulerson, however the
1860 census list him as 'I.B. Raulerson'. It is felt that his name was Icabod
Baggs and not John Baggs.
On 1860 census, I.B. and Civility Raulerson have Ellen Raulerson age 75 living
with them.
After his fathers death, John and his mother and rest of the family, moved to
