Leo Gilreath Interview |
According to Dan Burke and Frank Waung, there was a dude named Leo who worked on the NES Raid 2020 manual. I didn't know, for I don't have a copy of the Raid 2020 manual, my game was box and cart only :( Well I decided to try to interview Leo Gilreath, I thought he might have some interesting things to tell me. He did, and a suspician I had was confirmed as true--Raid 2020 was inspired by the arcade game NARC, like I always suspected. I'll let Leo take it from here.
LG: Yes I am one of the writers and Story Line Editors for
one of their games. Raid 2020 was the hit. Did you
play it?
As you probably already know Color Dreams went to
court with Nintendo back in the early 1990's over
liscensing fees and lost miserably. This was in a
book about the hostile video game industry titled Game
Over (I cannot remember the author's name).
Have you had a chance to contact any of the Developers
to Color Dreams games or the artists? We haven't been
in contact for some time now. I worked with artist and
friend Dan Burke and Programmer Frank Wang.
I don't know if you recall, but there was an arcade
game out at the time titled NARC. This influenced the
development of Raid 2020, but with the old 8-bit
system then we couldn't be as detailed or graphic. |
