Super Mario World for Famicom is one of those "unofficial" ports that is sure to make you squeal. Why? It's all there. Unlike the Donkey Kong II port, it's not just a few stages. Super Mario World for Famicom is almost an exact port of the classic Super Nintendo game.

Super Mario World comes in your generic kind of cart. The label has some japenese text, and for some reason it says Rock Roll 3m. The artwork was ripped from Super Mario Land's box for Gameboy. Now lets see about the actual game itself.

The title screen looks a little plainer than the SuperNES version. Hey atleast Mario is riding on a Yoshi. The world one map screen. Where is the water/tree panel? And why is the castle black? Lets visit Yoshi's house shall we?

An 8-bit Yoshi's House. Okay now there's a few things wrong with this. Where's the message block? Even worse, there's a glitch that for every time you leave, you gain a 1-up life. What kind of challenge is this? Go into Yoshi's House 100 times and you'd get 100 lives.

Apperently, Bonzai Bill was to large of a sprite to fit in this "port". As we enter the next panel instead of Banzai Bills we are greeted by three flames lined up in a triangular position. As we continue on, we see green? Rexes. Wasn't Rex always purple? The background seems alittle washed out color wise. Maybe the next stage will be better.

This next stage is an improvement from the last. Bright graphics, a rideable Yoshi, and parachuting Goombas. Just like the classic. Wait a second. Did I say parachuting Goombas? They were't ever in this stage before. Another mistake. I must say Yoshi also moves slow. It takes a long time for hime to eat an enemy. The stage after this is basicly a slow harder version of the stage. The lifts do not move in or out and it is terribly slow. Lets check out Iggy's castle.

All I can say is wow! The cut scene where Mario walks up to the castle is almost the same. That castle music also didn't let me down. So far, so good. As we enter the castle, we are greeted by the same basic layout as the classic version. Koopas are climbing up the wiring and there's even the question mark blocks. The overall feel comes across as a Super Mario Bros. 3 fortress, probably since the background is black.

Finally we enter the door to the second half of the stage. Prepared to dodge rising/sinking parts of the ceiling we are greeted by Thwomps! This really reminds me of a Super Mario Bros. 3 fortress. We finally get to the end. Lets go in and take Iggy by surprise. As we enter Iggy's room I look in amazement as Iggy is no where to be seen. Instead there is a Renzor!? A Renzor!? Yep there's a Renzor. He's sourta hard too. As we clear the castle, we find ourself moved up on the map screen. There is a few more panels and another Yoshi House. I wonder if this one gives you 1-ups.

As far as I can tell, this game is a fairly good port. There is a few changes but a port of Super Mario World for Famicom is an amazing task. If you ever see this cart, pick it up for I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.
