It is believed that this years Randall Ravens girls basketball team was the best ever in Randall Public School's history. They were a strong, tough and extremely talented team from start to finish. During the beginning of the season, there were many people who didn't believe that the girls would make it as far as they did. However, they were determined to prove those people wrong, and that's exactly what they did.

In the beginning, the girls didn't really know that much about the game of basketball. As time went by though, they became extremely confident with themselves, and functioned exceedingly well as a team. This was all thanks to their coaches Mrs. Sood and Mrs. Kohli. If it weren't for them, then the girl's basketball team would have never made it where they did. Now that I've kept you in the suspense of what actually happened game wise for the girls, here's a little bit of information which took place. The girls' first bunch of games took place at the Wilclay Wildcat's tournament. While there, the Randall Ravens played surprisingly well, but unfortunately lost to a tough school called Franklin. The girls could have cared less that they lost though, because they knew in their hearts that they played the greatest games of basketball ever. After that tournament, the team and the coaches discussed many strategies, and plays that would assist them in beating a similar team like Franklin in the future. These plays, and strategies seemed to help then enormously. At the area tournament, which took place at Middlefield High School, Randall matched up against a team they had already beaten twice before, Wilclay. They once again beat them, and continued their race to the playoffs. They then played another not so talented team the Coppard Glen Cubs. Although the boy's team from this school caused the boys some trouble, they didn't do the same for the girls. It was a struggle, but in the end, the Randillions came on top and were matched up next with Armadale. Armadale has beat them once before, but that didn't stop, nor effect the Ravens. They played an extremely hard game, paying as if they wanted the all more than the Armadillos. However, Randall didn't come on top. Don't get me wrong, Randall played an amazing game against them, but it was a known fact that Armadale had a little bit more skills in them. This didn't affect the girls however. They showed a positive attitude throughout the whole game and tournament. They later went on to beat Milliken Mills public School in the consolation finals, and beat them by a fair amount to capture the third place ribbon. Players such as Maria Doucas, Danica Ming, Shenel Mothersill, Tracy Markos, Karry-Ann Martin and Janelle Bookal played superbly. All in all, it was a pleasurable season for both the players the coaches, and especially the fans. A significant thanks goes out to all the believers in the girls, and to the coaches! Way to go girls!!!! - Maria Doucas
