HORSEMANSHIP (PART I) Fee: $50
If you would like to learn how to communicate with horses better
through gentle, natural horsemanship, then this is the course for
you. Natural horsemanship, sometimes called "horse whispering," is a
training philosophy that is simple, but effective–producing horses
that are safe to handle and ride. Actually, horses whisper to us as
much or more than we whisper to them–ask your instructor about this
at the class. Horsemanship is a method of interacting with horses
that is based on trust, respect, and communication, rather than
intimidation or the use of mechanical devices. You will learn about
the language of horses and how to communicate with them the same way
they communicate with each other. Your instructor will be teaching
what a cue actually is and how to structure and apply them. You will
learn what the reigns and legs are for and when and how to use them.
NOTE: this course will include hands-on instruction and if
you have a horse of your own, you will be given the opportunity to
bring it to class and learn directly from him. This course is
designed to be of interest to horse trainers, owners of horses,
trail riders, and even non-owners who just love horses. This
is a self-supporting course;Fee-exempt status
does not apply. You are required to purchase accident insurance,
available when you pre-register from the FTCC Continuing
Education Registration Office–fee $2 per term. PRE-REGISTRATION IS
REQUIRED.
