Today's watercolor pencils are truly a fine art medium with a pigment quality just as good as watercolor. They can be used for wet line sketching; or you can leave them dry for a colored pencil effect, building layers in a painterly fashion for extremely rich works. You will learn about shading, washes, and a graded wash. You will also learn to create linear effects that are difficult to get with a brush. This is a fun class where you'll learn new ways to enhance your watercolor paintings and watercolor drawings. Please call Carol at (910) 678-8329 for a supply list.

MONOTYPE (BEGINNING)        Fee: $45

Do you want to have fun learning a new painting technique? Bring your landscape, still life, or animal photos and learn how to produce monotypes. This technique is credited to an Italian printmaker in the 17th century and used by Degas to create over 300 monotypes in the latter part of the 19th century. This is a painting/printmaking technique that produces a one-of-a-kind piece of art. You will paint on Plexiglas, then your painting will be applied to a moistened sheet of watercolor paper by running it through a press. The press transfers the painting onto the moistened paper. The Plexiglas can be run through again to create a "ghost" of the image. Please call Carol at (910) 678-8329 for a supply list.
