ART OF SEEING, THE Fee: $125
A two-day workshop designed for all levels of artists to give
you the skills to carefully observe your subject and recreate what
you see on paper or canvas. You will explore various ways to

see angles, edges, spaces, values, and relationships between shapes.
Once you learn to see, you can draw or paint anything! Bob is a
native of New England and as a young artist was immersed in the
culture of that region. He learned much of his style and painting
craft while working with Tom Blackwell, one of the original Photo
Realists. His work has hung in many one-man shows and juried group
exhibitions in New York City, Europe, New England, Florida, and
North Carolina. These include the American Watercolor Society,
Pastel Society of America, and the American Arts Club, all in New
York City, the Freie Berliner Kunst Austellung (Free Berlin Art
Exhibition) in Berlin, Germany, and the Copley Society of Boston.

commission by the Thorne Sagendorf Art Museum, Keene State College,
NH; a large wall sculpture commissioned by the Keene, NH, YMCA;
winner of the United States and Worldwide All-Army Art Contest;

MIXED MEDIA/WATERCOLOR PAINTING-WATERCOLOR PENCIL Fee: $45
Today's watercolor pencils are truly a fine art medium with a
pigment quality just as good as watercolor. They are sometimes
called water-soluble pencils and they're pure pigments that dissolve
in water. They can be used for wet line sketching; or you can leave
them dry for a colored pencil effect, building layers in a painterly
fashion for extremely rich works. You will learn about shading,
washes, and a graded wash. You will also learn to create linear
effects that are difficult to get with a brush. This is a fun class
where you'll learn new ways to enhance your watercolor paintings and
watercolor drawings. Please call Carol at (910) 678-8329 for a

MONOTYPE (BEGINNING) Fee: $45
Do you want to have fun learning a new painting technique? Bring
your landscape, still life, or animal photos and learn how to
produce monotypes. This technique is credited to an Italian
printmaker in the 17th
century and used by Degas to create over 300
monotypes in the latter part of the 19th
century. This is a painting/printmaking technique that produces a
one-of-a-kind piece of art. You will paint on Plexiglas, then your
painting will be applied to a moistened sheet of watercolor paper by
running it through a press. The press transfers the painting onto
the moistened paper. The Plexiglas can be run through again to
create a "ghost" of the image. Please call Carol at (910) 678-8329
for a supply list.
