Joe Addo was signed by the MetroStars for one reason, his experience. In Addo's career, he has layed in Greece,
Portugal, Holland, Italy, Germany, and now in the US. He came to MLS in 1999 and signed with the Tampa Bay Mutiny. In 2000, he became the ninth
player in Mutiny history to play over 5,000 minutes. Though after the Mutiny were contracted from the league, he was waived from the team.
The Metros then picked up him off the waivers. With players like Steve Jolley and Mike Petke playing defense, Addo was forced to only play 15
games in 2002, 10 of which were starts. His contract ended that season, but the MetroStars decided to resign him. He accepted a pay cut, and
agreed that his role on the team was to help develope the younger playes.
Addo also had a great career representing the Ghana National Team. He played a total of 44 games, and tallied 2 goals. He was part of the Ghana
Olympic team in 1992 and in 1996. With his help, Ghana won the bronze metal in 1992, and reached the quater-finals in 1996. He was also captain
for the Ghana National Teams at following levels: National Youth Team, U-21, Olympic Team, and the Senior National Team.
