Joey DiGiamarino is a speedy player who can play the left flank in the midfield and in the defense as well. In 2001, he left the Colorado Rapids and signed with Bayern Leverkusen. There he injured his ankle several times, and was unable to crack the first team starting line-up.

In 2000, he played for the United States in one game, a 2-1 vistory over Kuwait, of the 2000 Olympics in Sydney in which the United States finished in 4th place, the best ever for the US.
