This neat piece I saw at a PRO gun show in
Hilliard, OH. I examined it and almost bought it. I decided to browse a bit more
and then come back. Alas, I came back and found a hold tag on it. I left my
business card and told him to buzz me on my cell phone if the buyer didn't show
up. I never got a call.
A week later I get a call from the buyer. He has to
sell it to fix his car. I agree to meet him and take another look at it. There,
at 11PM in the parking lot of Big Boy's, I swapped cash for the gun.
As the pictures show, the wood is
very nicely figured. This is an old Fajen stock. Notice the stock has been
inlet for the grip tangs. This is unusual in my experience, in that most
gunsmiths discarded the tangs for a sporter, eliminating the extra
inletting work. Still, this give is a much stronger grip area.
The scope mount is a 'bit' too low
and the bolt handle drags the bottom of the scope a little. New mounts
will fix this.
The white spacer is missing from the
end cap. Where can I get this?
This unit will also not feed from
the magazine. The .218 conversion is unfortunately essentially a single
shot gun. Hopefully my gunsmith will be able to fix this.
