BIRTH:In Prewitt-Pruitt records of SC as about 1775 and probably in Oldspouse: Unknown, Lucretia (1782 - 1849)
Craven Distr, SC. (1810 Pendleton Co, SC)(1820 Pendleton Co SC)MARRIAGE: Lucretia (1830 Fayette Co AL)
OTHER:Listed 1810 and 1820 census of Pendleton Distr, SC, as having 5 sons
and 5 daughters. Remained in SC after father's death. Rest of family moved to
Pickens Co and Tuscaloosa Co, AL, abt 1822. He was dead by 1838 when brothers
and sister signed a deed. to sell their father's land in Anderson Distr, SC.At the present time, the lineage for JOHN D PREWIT is not completely validated.
Assumptions have held that he was the son of ANCEL PRUETT; however, JOHN D
PREWIT and FRANCIS M PREWIT, who seem to be brothers, could be also sons of
SOLOMON PREWIT, for ages are reasonable. SOLOMON would have been abt 45 if JOHN
D and FRANCIS M were born abt 1820. SOLOMON was living in SC at that time and
two males under 10 are listed in the census for Pendleton Co, SC. 1820. Note
that LUCRETIA, wife of SOLOMON and mother of ANCEL and possibly of JOHN
D and FRANCIS M, was head of household in Fayette Co, AL, in 1830 Census, and 2
m of likely age (10-15 and 15-20) are in household; SOLOMON probably was dead
in SC before 1838.
She may be living with ANCEL in 1840 in Randolph Co, AL, in Census as 1 f 40-50.
