Line, 539029, enlisted with his brother on June 1, 1776, under Capt. John
Nelson, 4th Regt., NC Line. The roll of Capt. Griffith, John McRee's Company
of the 1st NC Battalion, commanded by Col. Thomas Clark, showed him as number
29: Ransom Prewitt. He was in the battles of Brandywine, Germantown, and
Monmouth; and then was discharged in 1779. Ranson paid at Warrenton (no. 125,
p54, Roster of Soldiers of NC in Rev.) and served 36 months. He was granted
274 aces, Act of 10-14-1817 (no. 541, p.243, Rosters of Soldiers of NC in Rev.)
and served 1-6-1776 to 1-6-1779 (p. 75, Rosters of Soldiers of NC in
Rev). He applied for a war pension on 2 Apr 1821 in Bedford County,
Tennessee, at age 67 with a wife Isabella whom he married in North Carolina
about 1784. He resided in Newberry Dist. SC in 1790; Abbeville Dist SC in
1800, and in Wilson County TN by 1818 He died in Bedford County Tn in April
1830. In 1835, an only daughter (?) not named was of Nashville TN.

appeared before a judge in Union District, South Carolina, and said he saw his
father Thomas Pruett sign the deed. Sarah Pruett released her dower to her son
William Pruett; recorded 13 Nov 1800 (Bk G, p.124,Spartanburg County, South
Carolina).

Samuel Asbury Pruitt served in the CSA, Company E, 43rd Regiment. Hespouse: Estes, Adeline E (1841 - 1910)
enlisted with the Kellogg Rifles in February 1862 and served under Col. Henry
C. Kellogg. He was wounded in the chest or knee on May 16, 1863 at Baker's
Creek, Vicksburg, Mississippi.
He died from the wounds on May 19, 1863, at the prison hospital at Champion
Mills.
Samuel was treated by the assistant surgeon Dr. L.C. Rice. He was 5Ǝ", fair
complexion, with grey eyes and had light hair. Age 24.
