John enlisted in Henry County, Virginia as a private in 1781 and served in the
Virginia line for a term of 18 months. He was at the Battle of Guilford Court
House and at Eutaw Springs, South Carolina.

Revolutionary War Pension applied for by son Spencer in Aug 1846 in Cleveland
County, North Carolina. John, VA Line, #R8456.

Went to Texas after 1850

!John F Pruitt was a democrat and attended schools in Evansville, Indiana. In
1857 he was elected township assessor
of Armstrong Township, Indiana, and in 1860 he was chosen trustee for one term.
To this office he was appointed in 1878...serving until 1882 when he was
elected to the general assembly by a majority vote of 1085. He was re-elected
in 1884 and served as chairmman of the agriculture committee. He was a member
of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a Master Mason. He was a farmer.

goods sold after death of my wife and money divided between sons Joseph and
John Prewit; negro Milley to go to my son Thomas after death of my wife and any
increase she have. Exrs: wife Susannah, Robert Jeter Wrs: Cliff French,
Stephen Bridges."

John Lawson Pruitt died from cholera.

Presbyterian Church cemetery at Due West, South Carolina. John Marion bought
the "Sproull Place" named "Green Pastures" in Greenwood County, South Carolina.

! According to 1860 Mississippi census, John, age 10, was living in HH 235,
French Camp, Choctow County, with John Prewett (age 66) a farmer, James A
Lester (age 20) and Julia A Lester (age 21) and Mary A Prewitt (age 40) and
Jackson A Prewitt (age 20) and Rufus K (age 16). Next door in HH236 was Dudley
(age 30) Nancy (age 21) Missouria W (1/12) Laletia Gaston (age 55) and
Elizabeth Gaston (age 18).

All information related to John S. Pruitt is attached to have a common
thread to Thomas Prewitt and Mary Chastain Ducray Prewitt. Until I can obtain
proof of John S Pruitt's father, he is attached here.
