1857 he was elected township assessor
of Armstrong Township, Indiana, and in 1860 he was chosen trustee for one term.
To this office he was appointed in 1878...serving until 1882 when he was
elected to the general assembly by a majority vote of 1085. He was re-elected
in 1884 and served as chairmman of the agriculture committee. He was a member
of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a Master Mason. He was a farmer.
