Ok, the upholstery was taking a little bit longer than I had anticipated, so my Boyfriend came across the bright idea of maybe spicing up the mechanicals a bit . They were originally sprayed in a concoction of Stone guard (The splattered stuff you see sprayed on the bottoms of guards and doors to resist stone chips) and Gloss Black. In theory, great, but this stuff had set like concrete on the mechanicals, so it was out with the lot, scrape and sand it all back to bare metal then prime and paint . The main colour scheme for everything was Vitamin-C Orange and Gloss Black .
He spent something like 12 months scraping and sanding everyday Monday to Friday, then carefully painting it all in Orange and Black, then reassembling it back together . Everything was planned, laid out, then decided what was to be Orange, (the main colour) and Black, (the add ons) . Where possible I bought rubbers, cables etc in corresponding colors to keep the theme alive . Also most parts were renewed along the way to make for safe and trouble free motoring once the car was back on the road .
A few things were painted, detailed then changed along the way as well, such as an extra Thermo fan added, the radiator painted then changed for a 3 core item, the 5 speed fitted then changed for an auto, a modified Nikki carb replaced the Twin side draught Webbers, then was replaced by a 32/36 down draught Webber carb . The Air filter for the Nikki was then modified and repainted to suit the 32/36 Webber so as to look original if the long arm of the law ever decided to take a peek under the bonnet . They weren't very amused at the sight of the Twin carbs, so we didn't want to attract to much attention this time round .
At times this was frustrating, especially after sanding back to bare metal, painting and then having to repeat the performance, but it was worth it in the end . It was discovered along the way the stone guard coating had damaged the seals on the Koni Adjustable shockies, so Brand new Adjustable Koni's were purchased, Gemini Heavy Duty Gas in the front and a set of Commodore Heavy Duty Gas for the rear . These combined with the Commodore Heavy Duty LPG Gas Rear Springs sure made for a firm ride !

Re-painted and Re-fitted, the colour scheme really stands out against the Yellow body .

The Diff in and everything painted, who would believe how many separate parts there are in one of these things !

Looks so good its a shame the car ended up being so low, but those rear springs were later relieved of a coil to get the right height .

Amazing how many little things were detailed never to be seen by the naked eye again !

The La Cucaracha Air horns, Alarm siren and Tram Bell all painted and tucked away behind the Front Spoiler. .

The Twin thermos now in place along with the 7 inch Quartz Halogen Spotlights. Although a lot of people expressed their opinion about these Spotlights, these were essential as I did my fair share of night driving as well, and safety and practicality counted more than looks alone . These were 150 watt and the Headlights were fitted with 140 watt high / 100 watt low Quartz Halogen Bulbs .

All the little extras sure took their toll, but at least it's getting closer to onroad day !
