The Trophies Part 1:

The Trophies ~ At Last & The Bullshit!

One of the first Car Shows I attended, as a spectator, was just around the corner from me . I decided to go and have a look to see different stands, setups and trends, after all, it had taken 5 years to build, and seeing as it was unfinished, with the stereo incomplete plus a few other things that needed sorting first, I  I parked my car outside and walked in for a look around . Pretty soon I was approached by a lot of people who wanted to know if that was really my car parked outside near the entrance . I knew the guys at the gate who soon got sick of the questions about my car, most thought it must have belonged to one of them seeing as it was parked close to them . I ended up spending more time outside answering questions than I did looking around inside . But after the show, the rumors started flowing . Some little Wanker in a Black Gemini with a Twin Cam 1800 motor fitted, spread it all around that he kicked my ass at the show and took out "Top Street Machine" . Well as it turned out, he took out "Top Engineered 4 Cylinder" . Just a shame he had fried his computer, and trailered his car there, and waited for everyone to leave before pushing it back on the trailer to get it home . Or was it he was just dirty that my car attracted more attention parked outside the show than his did in the show ? I suppose his had sweet mechanicals, which I would have killed for, just a shame that it wasn't far off of being a brush painted 'Pig' full of ripples and dents with a totally stock interior that looked like he locked his bitch in there whilst on heat hehehe .

As a participant, the Car Shows I soon found aren't all that exciting once you have walked around a couple of times to check out all the other cars . Plus the sunburn factor, summer sun showers and storms, and the politics ! I thought it was fun being with other enthusiasts, but boy ! Some people can be so Bitchy ! And that includes the guys as well ! A lot of guys who came to me and asked "How was that done" ? Or "What did you use to do that" ? Came back to me at the next show to tell me they were "Gunna kick my ass" ! It was funny to see their faces when I or someone more deserving walked away with the trophy . One clown and his two-head mates even badgered the Judge whilst he was inspecting his car, "get onya knees mate" ! "its got a pink gearbox" ! hehehee, a definite No No! Needless to say the sap instantly lost any chance of being in the running for any trophy . He would have instantly been awarded the same in points as he and his crew would have been collectively allotted in the IQ department !

Then there was the time a Judge took acceptation to my car, the trophy up for grabs was "Top Modified 4 Cylinder Holden" . I was up against an original bodied Gemini, a very neat car, but very original looking . The Judge protested that mine wasn't a Holden anymore, as it had Trans-Am guard scoops, a Valiant wagon Air deflector on the roof, Ford GT bonnet and a Commodore SS rear apron . The other owner who took out the "Top Trophy" argued with the Judges decision, that it was Bullshit ! I was happy for him, but he was disgusted and sold his car soon after and bought a Commodore, needless to say that was his last car show !
