During my time at WDW, characters were a priority for me and dining with them was a pretty darn cool thing to do. My favourite was the much-talked about Cinderella's Royal Table, where I went for character breakfast as well as a (sadly) character-free lunch on Christmas Day. This is not to be missed, if you can help it! The food is delicious and the french toast stuffed with cream cheese is out of this world! (I thought it'd be kind of gross, but it was fabulous). The characters are great - we saw Snow White, Belle (in the blue), Cinderella, of course, Peter Pan (though I've been told he's rare) and downstairs were the Fairy Godmother and the Mad Hatter. Aside from this the waiters are really friendly and the restaurant is simply beautiful.

I also loved the Villains' Dinner over at the Grand Floridian, where the Queen of Hearts, Ratcliffe, Captain Hook and - my personal favourite - Prince John hammed it up while we helped ourself to the buffet. It was a great time and I'd do it again anytime I went back to WDW.

Joe (of Joe and Denise, see the Links page) says “Donald's Breakfastasaurus is a good character breakfast and one of the few places in WDW you can see Donald Duck and get a picture with him. Make reservations, this breakfast is popular.”

Many times I've had dining at Chef Mickey's recommended to me. This character restaurant is out of the park (at the Contemporary) but is apparentely one of the best character dining experiences in the resort. The food is recommended more strongly than any other character meal available, and the character experience is also supposed to be fantastic.
