Brucca

"The Huntress"
Goddess of Archery, Hunting, and Patience

"Patience and tenacity of purpose are worth more than twice their weight of cleverness"

-- Collected Teachings of Fiorstaidh Longbow,
Archpriest of Brucca the Huntress

The priests of Brucca teach proper efficient hunting techniques, how to minimize the suffering of the animals involved, and how to use all of the animals that are killed.  They also charge themselves with the protection of wildlife from poachers and overzealous hunters, thus preventing any type of animal from being over-hunted.

Followers of the Huntress are known for their skill as bowyers and fletchers, and are generally considered to be the finest group of archers in the Young Kingdoms.  They are also known for their immense patience, being able to track their prey for days, weeks, and even months.

Most temples to Brucca host annual archery competitions, the prize of which is a bow handcrafted by the head priest of that temple.

Also Known As: Skuling (Chayk), Nervarobe (Nerulk), Kadibo (Rostok), Aklon (Kuzko)

Dogma: Patience is the cornerstone of life.  Measure twice, cut once.  Good things come to those who wait.  Always wait for the right shot.  Haste makes waste, and waste makes want.  Accurate and quick seldom are companions.  He who avoids haste sees finds mountains to be valleys.

Symbol: A hawk clutching four arrows in its talons.

Holy Days: Every full moon.

Allies: Calpurnia, Metilius, Manatus, Rabirius, Urgulanus

Foes: Fadus, Novilla

Colors: Green and Brown

Sacred Animal: Hawks and Falcons.

Sacrifice: Fresh game caught during the full moon.

Weapons Permitted: Priests of Brucca are permitted to use any hunting weapon.  They are required to be skilled with the longbow.

Armor Permitted: Priests of Brucca are forbidden to wear any armor heavier than studded leather, and may not use shields.
