The second animated Disney movie, Pinocchio is a masterpiece and a classic - beautiful, moving, and incredibly well animated. Oh yeah, and then there's the music ... "When you Wish Upon a Star" is the ultimate Disney classic.

You undoubtedly know the story already, but telling it is partly the point of this page, so bear with me ... the goodhearted Geppetto makes a wooden puppet he calls Pinocchio, and wishes that he could be a real boy. Because Gepetto has always acted with such kindness, the Blue Fairy rocks up and grants his wish (sort of), appointing Jiminy Cricket his official conscience. I say "sort of" because although he's come to life, Pinoke isn't a real boy yet ... first he has to prove himself "brave, truthful, and unselfish".

Unfortunately J Worthington Foulfellow, Gideon the Cat, the puppeteer Stromboli, the evil Coachmaster and the whale Monstro are all out to offer him heaps of trouble along the way ... giving Jiminy an awfully tough time keeping him straight while they're at it.

The Characters ...

Gepetto, Pinocchio's father.
Pinocchio himself, the little wooden boy who wants to be real.
The Blue Fairy , who grants Geppetto's wish and offers Pinocchio some help along the troubled path
Figaro and Cleo, the cat and fish pair who offer laughs - and a lot of cuteness!
Jiminy Cricket, one of the main stars of the show who offers undying loyalty to Pinocchio
Foulfellow, one of the many villains, a sly fox who persuades Pinocchio to do things he really knows he shouldn't ...
Gideon, the silent type who goes along with Foulfellow (or "Honest John") in his evil plans
Stromboli, the greedy and slimy puppeteer who keeps Pinocchio locked in a cage until he's rescued by the Blue Fairy
Lampwick, a boy Pinocchio befriends on Pleasure Island ... until they both turn into jackasses
The Coachmaster, who has a smaller role, but is enough to scare the pants off any self-respecting child
