Norway's most popular singer this year, Morten Abel (his new album sold to double platinum in just 2 months), obviously has a good taste. This is what he wrote on his page on Virgin Records Norway: "I just bought some vinyl albums in a second hand store in Oxford; T Rex, Dolly Parton, Francoise Hardy, David Essex, Queen, 10CC and Cliff. Yes Cliff! What's so funny? The guy who worked in the second hand record store was laughing in my face. So I bought six Cliff albums, just to piss him off. I haven't got to play any of them yet, but I'm sure they're good. Not as good as David Cassidy, but still. "Power to all our friends", remember? No? What about "Soft as a summer shower" by David Cassidy? No? Well, it doesn't matter." If

THE FIVE WORST The five worst production shows in Las Vegas according to Viva Las Vegas are: Greek Isles Casino - Dr. Naughty.
"Lip-synching by Rick Springfield and acoustically enhanced tap-dancing at Lord of the Dance are not acceptable at the prices they charge for tickets. Wayne Newton's continual throat problems, with no refund of tickets policy, was also noted. The Steve Wyrick show still has not performed some of the illusions promised and the Dr. Naughty show at the Greek Isles Casino (formerly the Debbie Reynolds Casino) for $45 admission was a disappointment." May we suggest Mr. Springfield that you stop lip-synching, and start singing live. Remember the critics when David Cassidy did the show? Just to fresh up your mind: "EFX" boasts Broadway talent galore and has that cosmic expanse of spirit, that lift of a driving dream, that wily, woozy pretentiousness, that have marked the boffo Broadway musical ever since "Cats" crept into town nearly 13 years ago. (Time Magazine) An astonishing $40 million production that is the new state-of-the-art spectacle for Glitter Gulch. (USA Today) EFX is a totally over-the-top, thrill-a-minute experience. (Chicago Tribune) Simply put, this show has no equal.
An effects-filled journey through time. And you feel like a child that's stumbled on Disneyland, the circus, and Radio City Music Hall, magnified to the nth degree. (A&E Monthly) |
