Notes:
Benjamin was Captain of the Sallie Fannie Reid Guards of the Confederate
service. He was also owner of a grist mill after the war along with S.G.Lane.
He provided the use of one of his buildings to the black citizens for use as
their school house after the war. This school was operated by a freedman J.S.
Pitman, later a teacher in Troup County.
Tombstone reads "Captain 4 Georgia State Troops, C.S.A."
On the 1850 census, Benjamin was a 'Student', single, living at home.
On the 1860 census, Benjamin, his wife and son Thomas, and brother W.P. were
living in the same house. W.P. was an overseer, B.T. was a farmer, with an
estate of $5000 and $15000.
On the 1870 census, B.T. and family are living near the J.U. Leonard family.
B.T. is a farmer with an estate of $5000 and $2500.
On the 1880 census, Ben T.'s family consisted of his wife Camilla, and eight
children. They were living next to the families of Jacob Sheppard and William
Freeman, and Jact Lloyd.
