Notes:
Seth Edmondson, a police officer, was a good friend of Bob's.
Bob and Hattie resided in Greenville, South Carolina, on Broad St. in 1910.
Bob's wife Hattie had a sister named Adel who gave birth to daughter Leona, the
Bryan family cared for this child as their own. "Uncle Bob" became a father
figure to Leona Kramer and played with her, teaching her to read and sing, he
took her on his hunting trips, having their dog "Kiser" pull her on a sled. He
bought her a little stove and taught her how to trap a bird inside a box, so
she could pretend to cook a chicken in her oven. He adored her and she him, his
death added serious trama to her life,as it had only been two years prior that
she had lost her mother, Adel. The entire family traveled to Deerfield, Florida
to reside after Bob's death. Later they returned to build a log cabin home on
Bryan Avenue, where several family members still reside.
On 1900 census, Robert's name is listed as 'V M'.
His correct name was Robert Vardry McKinley, he was called "Bob".
First burial was in Mudd Creek Cemetery and later he was reintered in Oakdale
Cemetery where his wife who died in 1969 was buried in a family plot.
