On the 1850 census, James and his family are living next the the Campbell
families. In the house are several people with different surnames, Noah Hicks,
age 13, born Fl., Samuel Hicks, age 10, born Fl., Martha Hull age 50, born
Georgia, Tempy Lane, age 16, borh S.C., Robert B. Wilson, age 50, Clerk of
Court, born Georgia. Martha Hull is probably Ruth Hulls mother. Nearby is the
family of Jacob and Mary Raulerson, James' parents.
1870 Florida Census lists John B. Watt, age 35, teacher, born GA.; and
John Murry, age 33, farmer, born GA; both living in James Raulerson household.
On 1850 census, Martha Hull was living in the house of James Raulerson and wife
Ruth Hull Raulerson. Also in the house were Noah Hicks, age 13 born FL; Samuel
Hicks, age 10 born FL; Tampy Lane, age 16 born GA; Robert G. Widden, Clerk of
Court, age 50 born GA.
13 April 1860, James received from Russell Raulerson and Samuel M. Pearson,
Executors of the estate of Jacob Raulerson of Wayne Co. Ga., $815.38, his share
of the estate.
October 1863, Brig. General Joseph Finnegan, Commander of the District of East
Florida, ordered a cavalry unit organized. It was assigned to the 5th Batt.,
Florida Cavalry, 17 Apr 1864. James enlisted as Sergeant 15 Oct 1863, Volusia
Co., Fl.
