James and Sarah Cameron are both buried in the Long Cane Baptist Church
Cemetery, but both were members of the Presbyterian Church.
DAR: No. 763071: James Cameron resided in Fairfield Dist., S.C. during the
Revolution. He served as a Private in Capt. Edward Martin's Company of Militia.
James was a Non Commissioned Officer in the Rev. War, lived in Jasper Co.
Georgia when he drew land in the land lottery in 1824, as a Rev. War soldier.

Troup Co. and her People; The Cameron Family, Danny Knight: James C. Cameron,
born Northern Ireland, first settled in Fairfield County South Carolina after
the Rev. War. There he married Sarah Brown. James left S.C. and purchased land
in Clarke Co. Georgia from George Taylor, 7 Dec 1803. Eight years later, James
Cameron of Jasper Co. sold this land to Samuel Bryant, 10 Jan 1815. Then on 9
Apr 1818, he purchased land in Jasper Co., from James Moore. In Jasper County,
Trussell's Dist., James received two land grands, one in Carroll Co., and one
in Muscogee Co., for his service in the Rev. War. James and wife Sarah moved to
Morgan county Georgia, with their daughter and son in law James and Mary Jane
Loyd. In Morgan County, James and his family joined the Oak Grove Presbyterian
Church. On 1 Oct 1831, James and wife Sarah, James and Mary Loyd, transfered to
the La Grange Georgia, First Presbyterian Church. In this church, 22% of its
member wer Cameron's, includeing, David Brown Carmeron, Mary Lyle Cameron, and
James Hawthorne Cameron.
James H. Cameron: Pioneer. He built the first house, in town of La Grange. His
daughter, Francis married Gen. Alfred Austell, who founded in Atlanta, the 1st
national bank ever organized in the Southern states. There were five Cameron
brothers, David,Thomas, settled Franklin, an Indian Trading Post, later to be
known as West Point. James,Benjamin H., and William settled near the center of
what is now La Grange. Their father was James Cameron who came from Scotland to
North Carolina in 1770 and served in the Revolution. The family first located
in Jasper, Georgia before traveling to the La Grange area.
