Within the FBI there is a basement office, occupied by an agent obsessed with aliens and the unexplained. He reopened the X-Files, a series of cases that were unexplainable by normal methods and mostly unsolved. He was determined to solve them to the best of his ability, driven by the unexplained disappearance of his sister when he was just 12.

He was assigned a partner to "debunk" the X-Files and the work he was doing, as he was becoming somewhat of an embarrassment to those higher up within the Bureau. Or was he getting too close?

When Agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) was assigned to Agent Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) she was a sceptic. But over the years working beside this man, she became a believer.
