Susannah his wife of Albemarle sold to William Sampler for 90 pounds, 400 acres
in Albemarle County. Signed David Dolton; wit Isaac Davis, Jacob Watts, Leonard
Davis, William Fretwell. probed in Jun Court 1776, John Nicholas, clk.
1781: David Dalton served as Minuteman of Albemarle Co., VA Militia under Capt.
Nicholas Lewis, during whole term of Rev. War. Made a Capt. in 1781 at Yorktown
according to family records, no offical records to that effect.
David was a prominent land owner in Albemarle County Virginia. He was well
connected to such friends as James Madison, Thomas Jefferson and Dr. Thomas
Walker the explorer. Some of David's land deeds were signed by Thomas
Jefferson, and members of the Thornton family, cousins of George Washington,
another close friend of David.
Patrick County Deeds: David Dalton and Susanna his wife, of Patrick Co., Va.
Sells land to Benjamin Robinson of Albemarle Co., Va. dated 3 Sept 1793.
Stokes Co., N.C. Wills:
Will of David Dalton recorded in Will Book 3 page 44, written 1 May 1815,
Probated Jun 1820: Mentions sons David, Jonathan, Charles, Isaac, sons-in law
John F. Carr & wife Elizabeth, Absolem Bostick & wife Nancy, Thomas Carr (no
wife named). Exec: 'friends' Thomas T. Armstrong and Jeremiah Gibson. Wit:
William Good (Goad) and Benjamin Young.
David bought land in Stokes County North Caroline about 1779, and moved there
about 1785. His first wife died there. In Dec 1812 David remarried, the widow
Eleanor Goode Martin.

There appears to be several Jones families in Hardeman County that could
quailify given census for this family. this makes the correct information to
require more research.
