William's grand father was John Boyce, emigrant from Ireland to the U.S. in
1765. Wm. married Elizabeth Miller and served in the Revolution. Their son,
Robert married Lydia Waters, daughter of famed Philemon Waters. Robert's son
William was a prominent lawyer in the Fairfield S.C. area when he was called
into the service of the Confederacy. In 1858 and 1859 Wm. Esq. served as a
representative in the National Congress.
In 1861, William was elected to the Confederate Congress from the Fairfield
District. As a member, he was a signer of the Confederate Constitution. William
Boyce, Esq. is mentioned in the "Mrs. Chestnut Diary".

NOTES:
In 1830, Benjamin was guardian for the children of Stephen H. Gilmore Sr.,
having married the widow Elizabeth Hooten Gilmore about 1828/1829. Stephen
Gilmore's estate was settled in 1830, with a value of $40,000.
Benjamin Cameron was an early builder and architect of Troup County. He was an
original trustee of the La Grange High School in 1838. Benjamin was a Justus
of the Inferior Court of Troup County from 1836 to 1843 and 1857 to 1860.
Benjamin was co-builder of the Chattahoochee Bridge Co., a toll bridge named
Cameron Bridge over the Chattahoochee River. Benjamin served the Georgia State
Legislator in 1842, 1847, and 1853/1854.
1842, 1847, 1854: Ben was a Contractor, and served as Captain of the Sallie
Fannie Reid Guards, C.S.A. and as state Legislator.
1857-60: Judge of Inferior Court.
1850: Benjamin's occupation was Planter,his Real Estate value $15,000. In the
home we find Eliza age 48,Emma F.age 14;Laura E. age 11;Thomas F. age 9; and a
student John Gay lived with the family.
1880 Ben has passed away and his daughter Emma has died too. Eliza Cameron age
82, is living with Joseph U. Lennard, her son-in-law and caring for her grand-
daughter, Ida, age 9. Joesph's new wife Eva-Talbird-Screven is sick with
childbirth.
S.W.Swanson was Lawyer for the Benjamin H. Cameron estate.

John was a Revolutionary War soldier. Served in the South Carolina Militia,
Richland Dist. as did Benjamin, Richard, William and George, brothers of John.
Also, Gilbert and David Rawlinson served in the Continental Line, from South
Carolina.
