Infantry Regiments: 32nd - 35th & 37th Regiments.
James G. Thompson, Private; Resided in Henderson County where he enlisted at
age 44, August 17, 1863, for the war. Reported present during November, 1864-
February, 1865. Captured at or near Dinwiddie Court House, Virginia, 1 April
1865. Confinded at Point Lookout, Maryland, until released on 21 June 1865,
after taking the Oath of Allegiance. North Carolina Pension records indicate
he was wounded at Petersburg, Virginia, on an unspecified date and was also
wounded in Virginia on another unspecified date. Pension approved 1 Apr 1901.
1870: James had Sarah Waggoner(35) and her 6 children residing in the home.
He lived next door to Henry Dalton (M-753) and near Eliza Thompson(M-755).
1880: James still had Sarah Waggoner(Wagner)(44) living with him as servant/
with two daughters: Martha age 14 and Arminter L. age 8.
1900: James gave birth date Jan 1819, age 80, married 55 years.
wife: Sarah gave birth date Aug 1843, age 56, married 25 years, Sarah had given
birth to 8 children/ with 5 still living. (James marriage information maybe
error). Residing in the home are: James S.Thompson(son)and his wife Zebbella
M.(Daughter-in-law to James G. Thompson); and Emma T.(Thompson?) Pace a grand-
-daughter, age 19, born Dec 1880. (1900 Census and Soundex)
1901 Apr 15: Pension application for Civil War service was approved. James gave
his age as 82 (in 1901). He enlisted in Aug 1862, into Comp. G, 35th Reg. of
N.C. Troops. He stated he was wounded about 15 Apr 1864, at Petersburg Va.
