1833: Hopkin Daniels help form The Rembert Settlement Temperance Society, which
appears to be the 1st organized group for reform in Sumter District: Nov 1833.
The Grand Jury respectly suggest the legislature the propriety of utterly with
holding the power of granting licenses. signed Document by Hopkin Daniel and
other residents. The local newspaper was clled "The Watchman".
1860: Hopkin is a farmer, with wife and two children living at home.
