her daughter Abagail working as a seamstress.
The Boyce family settled in the area of Lynchburg Twp. and Mt. Cleo Twp. of
Sumter Dist/Sumter County. Sumter County was formed from Sumter District in
1865. This area was transfered to Lee County in 1902. The townships retained
their original names.

In 1811, Francis was appointed guardian of Mary Higginbotham; John S.
Higginbotham was appointed guardian of Peter and Larkin Higginbotham, all three
were orphans of Benjamin Higginbotham Jr., brother to francis and John S.
Higginbotham. Charles Carter and John Han provided security.

Phelps born near Penfield, Green Co., Ga 5-22-1845. Joined CSA, fought through
war. Retired at war's end to Ga. In 1842 married Mrs. Emma Leonard of Talbott
Co., she the sister of Mrs. John H. James and of Henry C. Leonard. Mr. Phelps
came to Atlanta about 15 years ago, well known for many years as Bookeeper for
the James Bank, a good all round business man and two years ago entered the
Resturant business with Mr. Donehoe. Mr. Phelps was a half brother of J.H. and
W.B. Seals or the Sunny South, and the Rev. Thes. Seals of Thmaston. Buried
West View Cemetary.

Levi's death date as recorded in the LDS IGI (20 Jan 1930) is incorrect.
Correct date according to Henderson County records is 8 Nov 1926.
On the Death Certificate, Lee's age at death was 81, no birth date or place
given, mother's maiden name Shadwick, no first name of mother. Informant on
certificate was T. N. Redden (Thomas Noah). Lee was buried in Shaws Creek, 10
Nov 1926, by Shepherd's Mortuary.
On the 1900 census, Levi is listed as L.M. born Aug 1847, married 32 years, His
wife Sarah A, born Aug 1847, married 32 years, had 10 children, with 10 still
living. Levi listed his fathers birth place as Georgia, his mother as North
Carolina. Sarah listed both of her parents as born in South Carolina.
Marriage performed by C. M. Greer, JP, at home of Noah Owen. Levi aged 22,
Sarah aged 18.
Levi Redden was on the roster of members of the Beulah Baptist Church, 1877.
On the 1910 census, Lee was living with the Jacob McCarson family, relationship
unknown. Lee was married, was probably working there for a short time.

pass in family in past 5 months; With the sudden death of L.M. Redden, 81 yr
old farmer living north of the city on Monday, Nov 8 from heart failure, six in
the family have passed within five months, including the following, the father,
mother, brother, niece, and nephew of S.P. Redden of Inman, S.C., who was here
for the funeral, who with the following children survive; S.P. Redden of Inman
SC, Mrs. Mary Pettit of Horse Shoe, Mrs. Etta Justice of New Hope, Miss Maguire
Redden, Mrs. Ruth Moore of Horse Shoe, Mrs. J.E. Barnwell of this city, and
Miss Suzie Redin of Hendersonville. Funeral Service held Nov 10 at 1:30.
