Beast Machines Buzzsaw
I can't exactly remember where or when I got Buzzsaw, but I found him a week or so
ago and decided, what the heck, might as well review him. First off, well, he's really
small. Like tiny. Smaller than Beast Wars Rattrap (or maybe the same size, just not as
bulky). When he's in beast mode he's small enough to sit on Megatron's (Beast Wars) shoulder
and look like he's supposed to be there. Pretty funny.
Probably the coolest thing about Buzzsaw is his beast mode. He's the first Maximal
to be an insect, and he takes the form of a techno-organic bee. He has more organic
influence than a Transmetal, though he still doesn't quite look like a bee.
The major downside to the materials is the legs (and head to some extent) which are
made of a rubber sort of material. I left Buzzsaw in a box with a bunch of other things on
top of him for a month or more possibly and now his legs are permanently bent in slightly
odd directions. Not too much of a problem if you don't do that though.
In robot mode Buzzsaw is something else. And not in the good way. Actually, everything
is okay with him except for his arms. One arm carries two of his legs instead of a hand
and the other arm is his stinger with the spring which looks quite awkward. Also, his
stinger is a shade of amber and looks slightly out of place on his body which is yellow,
green and dark brown.
His bee wings become his legs and are quite thin and make him look like he's wearing
high heel boots. Also, his knee joints are high up on his legs which isn't really a
problem so much as something that looks weird. His robot head also looks very much like an
insect which is kinda cool.
Overall Buzzsaw isn't a bad toy, per say, but he lacks a little something (like hands).
However, his price tag usually runs around six bucks (give or take) so he tends to warm the
pegs (not helped by his absence from the show) and rightfully so as he's not worth this
price. If you can find one for $2.50 or $3 then pick it up, but I wouldn't go much
higher than that.
