Beast Wars: Fox Kids Repaint Dinobot

Dinobot was always one of my favorite characters on Beast Wars, so naturally when I saw one up on eBay, mint in package, for like seven bucks I grabbed it quick. Of course I overlooked the fact that it was a repaint, but you get what you pay for I guess. Anyways, I was never one to believe in keeping stuff mint on card (not Transformers at least) so I ripped this bad boy open right away.

Of course, the fun of ripping the package kinda ended quick. To be quite honest the Dinobot mold is not as high quality as one would hope. The dinosaur mode looks okay actually. The detailing is right up there with Megatron and the articulation is quite nice, it's just the friggin underbelly junk is really bad. I mean, his legs and feet might as well not even fold up. They look so awkward just kinda stuck to his stomach. Blah. I can't stress that enough.

Anyways, transforming him isn't too tough, just flip his legs down, rotate them, flip his feet out, spin the sides of his dino body around and push his head down to his robot chest. His tail comes off and turns into his spinning shield and sword, just like in the show. Pretty spiffy.

In robot mode he looks much better, but memories of beast mode still haunt me. If they could have just found a better way to transform his robot legs I would be a happier camper. Ah well, can't have everything I guess. To tell you the truth, had Dinobot not been in the show, I doubt this model would have been as popular as it was. Either way, despite its flaws, it's still something you may want to own.
