Robots in Disguise: Super Prowl

The super Autobot brothers were repaints of the original brothers released in Japan as part of the Car Robots line. They appeared in the show sometimes, though I'm not quite sure why (something to do with Ultra Magnus), but it apparently not only gives them a new color scheme, but also makes them more powerful.

Anyway, they were released by Hasbro recently and I had trouble finding them until today when I stopped by the local Walmart to stumble upon one of each. I had always planned on picking up Super Prowl, and I would judge the other ones when I saw them. Side Burn is made up in Hot Rod (Rodimus Prime) colors and X-Brawn is done up in some ugly rally car colors. I was considering Side Burn, but I like his blue scheme better, so I just grabbed Prowl.

Called Mach Alert in Car Robots, Prowl, as with his original version, is a Lamborghini Diablo, however the mostly white scheme has been replaced with a mostly blue scheme with white parts instead of black parts. The Autobot symbol on the hood was moved up a little and the word 'Police' is under it. Also the back of the car (the part in front of the spoiler) is painted black and the siren lights are red and blue instead of just red. Also on the doors it says 'Police' and 'Mach Alert' (hehe, Hasbro didn't bother the change the tampo) instead of Japanese writing that I can't read but I assume says police as well. Oh yeah, and the rims are gold instead of silver. In my opinion this is the only repaint that's an improvement over the original. It just looks better, damnit.

Robot mode differs less than vehicle mode if you don't take the car kibble into consideration. The blue paint on his legs is metallic instead of flat (as is all the blue on his car mode), and his tailpipe weapons are blue instead of gray. Also his Autobot symbol is gold vac instead of red vac and there's some color changes in the shoulder pads, but for the most part the colors don't change too much, though his shield is blue instead of white, which is the biggest change.

All in all, the repaint is on the same cool toy Prowl was on, but the new paint job makes it look even better in my opinion, so I'm actually going to give a higher score for super Prowl than regular Prowl got. Grab it if you see it, folks, especially if you don't already own the original.
