Robots in Disguise: Prowl
The third and final review from the RID brothers is the Lamborghini police car. Personally
I'd like to be on the police squad that uses Diablos as their squad cars, but I guess you
can't have everything (apparently they really use them in Hong Kong, so I've heard).
Anyway, the vehicle mode is pretty cool, albeit somewhat unbelievable as a US toy due to
the previously mentioned fact, but otherwise it's quite cool. It rolls quite well and holds
together pretty well too, though the tailpipes and section that later becomes Prowl's chest
does come loose and drag sometimes. In vehicle mode you can also attach his weird rocket
missile launcher thingies which look stupid no matter where they're attached. Storage is
nice in vehicle mode, but I'd leave them off since his cool and suave look is spoiled by them
being on his rear spoiler (or worse yet, his lights).
Transformation is pretty neat, and easier than Sideburn's (always a plus) and pretty much nothing
pops off (his doors can, but it hasn't happened to me yet). Ah yes, before I forget, be sure to check
out his robot feet in vehicle mode, the form some spiffy (although high up) bucket seats. Pretty sweet.
Anyway, Prowl suffers from kibble syndrome the least of the three brothers. He gets some
massive shoulder pads and his doors are at his sides, but the all fit. The only weirdness
is the top of the car which becomes an arm shield. It just looks kinda funny to me, but otherwise
it's all pretty cool.
Robot mode is pretty cool, and in proportions (unlike X-Brawn), and tight jointed (unlike Sideburn).
The only annoying stuff is his rocket launchers, which, as I mentioned before, look stupid
pretty much anywhere and don't fire all that well. They aren't spring loaded, and firing them
is the same thing as popping out a ball joint, causing them to fly an inch or two. Whoo.
That aside, Prowl is a pretty damn cool transformer. What do I say then? Well, if you have a
choice between all of the Autobot brothers, pick Prowl. In fact, he's probably the only one actually
worth paying the extra cash for a Japanese (and original as it would be) import.
