Speckled Carpetshark
Scientifically:
Hemiscyllium trispeculare.
What To Look For:
A slender shark with dark brown spots over the body
and a conspicuous large black spot behind the gills.
The mouth is placed well forward and the tail is
elongated. This is a common coral reff-dwelling
shark, which is often found in rock pools.
Size:
Up to 64 cm.
Distribution:
Northern Australia.
Food:
Mainly bottom-living invertebrates.
Breeding:
Live-bearer.
Danger To Humans:
Not known to be dangerous.
