Grey Bamboo Shark
Scientifically:
Chiloscyllium griseum.
What To Look For:
This bamboo shark has 2 spineless dorsal fins, and
an anal fin close to the tail. The young have dark
brown bands on the body and head, whereas the
adults are uniform grey or pale brown. This species
is common in inshore waters and typically lives deep
in crevices.
Size:
Up to 75 cm.
Distribution:
Northern Indian Ocean, between the Gulf of Iran and
Japan.
Food:
Mainly bottom-living invertebrates.
Breeding:
Lays eggs in small oval egg cases on reefs.
Danger To Humans:
May bite if harassed.
