Blind Shark
Scientifically:
Brachaelurus waddi.
What To Look For:
A small, stout shark with barbels extending in front
of a short mouth and very large spiracles behind the
eyes. Two large, spineless dorsal fins are postioned
towards the rear of the body. The body is black to
light brown, sometimes with small white spots. It is
common inshore over rocky shores and reefs to depths
of about 100 m.
Size:
Up to 1.2 m.
Distribution:
Eastern Australia.
Food:
Crabs, shrimp, cuttlefish and small fish.
Breeding:
Live-bearer, with up to 8 young per litter.
Danger To Humans:
Not known to be dangerous.
