Angular Roughshark
Scientifically:
Oxynotus centrina.
What To Look For:
A rough shark with conspicuous sail-like dorsal
fins, a blunt snout and a squat body. The body is
grey-brown, with light horizontal lines on the
head. Little is known about this bottom-living
shark.
Size:
Up to 1.5 m.
Distribution:
Temperate North Eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean.
Food:
Recorded as eating bristle worms and probably eats
bottom-living fish.
Breeding:
Live-bearer, with up to 8 pups per litter.
Danger To Humans:
Not known to be dangerous. Occasionally caught by
trawlers off Namibia.
