by occupation is a laboror; there is Benony "Ben" (23) a carpenter; and Abagail
A.(17) Boyce residing in the home.
Mary is Hampton's mother and the family is living with her in 1850.
1860: Frances(25) and Hampton(32)(overseer) is married with 4 children.
1864: Frances spouse Hampton Boyce enlisted as a Private in Sumter and served
in Co. E of the South Carolina Volunteers and died of disease on 21 Dec 1864 in
Columbia, South Carolina. This left Frances a widow to rear her children alone.
The children were John(14), Mary(10), Annette(10), and Samuel(8) at the time of
their father's death.
1860: Mary Boyce(64) is listed as Midwife and Abagail(R.P.) listed as seam-
stress both again residing in the same home.
The Boyce family settled in the area of Lynchburg Twp. and Mt. Cleo Twp. of
Sumter Dist/Sumter County. Sumter County was formed from Sumter District in
1865. This area was transfered to Lee County in 1902. The townships retained
their original names.
There is confusion with this family living in both South & North Carolina?????

1850 Census: Joesph is resident student of Brownwood Institute, founded by Rev.
Otis Smith,M.B. Clergyman,who purchased it from Dr. Robert C. Brown. The school
had been called Brownwood Academy for Girls,it's location, La Grange,Georgia.
Residing nearby we find Benjamin H. Cameron age 47,wife Eliza age 48, with two
daughters, Emma F. age 14, Lavinia E. age 11, and a son Thomas F. age 9.
Residing in the household is a student Thomas Gay.
1854:Marriage: Emma F. Cameron, daughter of Benjamin and Eliza Hooten-Cameron.
1860 Census: Joseph is by occupation "Loafer", Personal Estate value $10,500.
Joseph ownes 11 slaves. He has his wife Emma F.(24) and a son J.B.(5) and his
wife's sister Lavinia E.(22) and her spouse A.B.Gibson(26) with their child
Emma(2) "named for her Aunt Emma" are found residing in the home.
1862- Joesph enlisted with the Georgia Volunteer Infantry Company E. 41st Reg.
He was elected 2nd Lt. March 4,1862;and elected Captain October 8,1862. He was
captured at Vicksburg, Mississippi July 4,1863 and paroled there. Roll dated
31 Dec.1863 and no further records.
The 41st Regiment Georgia Company G V. Infantry of the Confederate Forces was
apart of Maney's Brigade of Cheathan's Divison of the Army of Tennessee and the
known as the Georgia Troup Light Guards as Co. E. of the 41st.
1870 Census: Joseph and Emma F. are residing in La Grange, Troup County, Ga.
1875: Joseph lost his beloved wife Emma and was left with a daughter Ida age 4.
His mother-in-law Elizabeth Hooten-Cameron resided with the family.
1875: Emma died 16 July 1875 and buried in the Esq. Sherwood Wilkinson Swanson
family plot with 3 of her children.
1877: Dec 19, LaGrange, Georgia, Joseph marries 2nd wife Eva L. Screven, the
daughter of Ellen Sarah Talbird and James Odingsell Screven. They make their
home in La Grange, Georgia.
1880 Census: Joseph is found married with wife Eva, sick with childbirth. In
the home is Ida age 9 and mother-in-law Eliza Cameron age 82,"Emma F. Cameron's
mother. Eva continues to have medical problems, so Joseph moves to Florida to be
near Eva's relative, Dr. Henry Talbird. He leaves Ida to help care for the now
elderly grandmother Eliza.
1883: Joseph returns to Georgia to bring Ida age 12 to join his new family in
Florida. At age 16 Ida married Wm. B. Raulerson.
1900: Joseph resides at "Lennard's Hammock" on Old Mims Rd. in Geneva, Florida.
!INFORMANTS:
#1: Mrs.Alice Corrine Raulerson-Horne: Corrine is the oldest daughter of Mrs.
Ida Virginia Lennard-Raulerson; who is the oldest daughter of Joseph U. Lennard
and Emma F. Cameron. Alice and Kenneth M. Horne, Sr., her husband of 74 years,
reside live near their son on Pennock Point in Jupiter, Florida.
#2: Mr. Joseph Mathieux, grand child of Joseph U. Lennard, resident of Geneva,
Florida. Mr. Mathieux is a retired teacher and artist. Presently, he actively
assists in the Geneva Historical Society Museum. He gave a video interview of
the local history of Geneva, as well as the historical facts of his own family.
His mother was the daughter of Eva Talbird Screven. Joseph owns furniture and
heirlooms from the Lennard(Leonard Plantation). Family members donated many
items to the Geneva Historical Museumn, located in Geneva, Florida.
#3: Mr.Forrest Johnson Clark,III, renown writer and Troup County, Georgia,
Historian. Great appreciation and tribute goes to him for corrspondence and
information provided thur his research and publications. Hopefully, with effort
on my part and God's blessings our family will complete our family pedigree.

3 Aug 1968; York , S. C. - (UPI) - Authorities Saturday identified a man whose
body was found on a rural road last Thursday as a retired merchant marine from
Mecklenburg County. York County police said the man was Donald C. Thompson, 46
of (Rt. 5 box 996) Mecklenburg County. Identification was made by the victim's
brother, Orville Thompson, a Mecklenburg county Antique dealer. Thompson's body
was found along a dirt road about seven miles west of York. coroner A. Y.
Leslie Jr. said Thompson was killed with "something like an ax or machete,"
Sheriff Grover Noe said officers did not find a weapon but there were
indications the man was killed where his body was found.
5 Aug 1968 - D.C. Thompson; The funeral for Donald Clinton Thompson of Rt. 5,
Wilkinson Blvd. was to be at 4 P.M. today at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church.
The Rev. Kenneth Craig, pastor was to have officiated. Burial was to have been
in the Church Cemetery. Mr Thompson died Wednesday in York S.C.. He was reared
in Mecklenburg County and was a graduate of Berryhill High School and Oak Ridge
Military Academy. He was a retired merchant marine. Surviving are his wife,
Della Mae Knight Thompson, a daughter Rebecca Kay Thompson, a step-daughter,
Dorothy Lane; two step-sons, George Lane and Kenneth Lane, and a brother,
Orville O. Thompson, all of Charlotte.
