Der vom 22. Dezember ist unterzeichnet mit Alfred A. Knopf und bekundet Interesse am deutschen Autor, die Rechte an Cathers Kurzgeschichte seien bereits veräußert. Die Briefe vom 23.10[11?].1948, 13.12.1948 und 22.12.1948 enthalten eine Adresse Kurts "c/o James Knapp-Fisher 29 Wilton Place London". Bezugnahme von Hans B. Ich selbst bin nicht so sicher, von der Forschung ist ja der Zweifel unablösbar, und mehr als ein Bruchstückchen der Wahrheit hat man gewiß nicht herausbekommen.
