Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) Toys

Given the success of the first Transformers movie and its toyline, a sequel was inevitable-- and indeed one came two years later with "Revenge of the Fallen". Now confident that the movie aesthetic was a sucess, Hasbro put more new molds into the line as well as expanding into some new gimmicks/side lines. One of these are the "Gravity Bots", deluxe-priced toys which transform simply by laying them on their side or standing them up. Another new size class were the "Human Alliance" figures, extremely well-detailed, $30 U.S., scaled versions of some of the most popular movie characters that each came with a miniature human figure that could interact with them in multiple ways. "Battle Chargers" are, more or less, repurposed "Cyber Slammers" from the first movie line, deluxe-priced with simple automatic transformations with the "robot mode" beind pretty much the upper part of the robot sticking out of the car. Instead of transforming into small devices, "Real Gear" scout-class toys were dropped in favor of more "normal" scout-class characters that fit in with the mainline. Simple "Fast Action Battlers" made their re-appearance in the RotF line, as well.
As the year changed to 2010, Hasbro, as usual, added a subtitle and slight packaging change to the line to keep interest going-- this time around it was "N.E.S.T. Global Alliance", propped up with a web-only CGI mini-series and with bios that centered more around character interactions and fights to help cross-sell toys.
As expected, the line was an enormous success, so much so that after the Revenge of the Fallen toyline ended in late Spring of 2010, many movie toys continued into a line simply titled "Transformers" which took RotF's place.
(NOTE: Non-transformable Transformers toys-- such as Robot Heroes, roleplay toys, Robot Replicas, and non-Battle Charger RPMs-- are not reviewed on this site. Also, the Target Exclusive Superion & Bruticus Maximus giftsets were released under the Universe 2.0 line in some foreign countries, but are reviewed here because they were released under the RotF banner in the U.S.)
